III. USK
Do not suddenly break the branch, or
Hope to find
The white hart behind the white well.
Glance aside, not for lance, do not spell
Old enchantments. Let them sleep.
"Gently dip, but not too deep",
Lift your eyes
Where the roads dip and where the roads rise
Seek only there
Where the grey light meets the green air
The hermit's chapel, the pilgrim's prayer.

I feel I've been walking round for days
And where I have been I cannot say
Old white horse galloped away through the meadow
Theres a wood thrush singing through the fog
Whispers and small laughter between leaves
Under sleep where all the waters meet
And I remember the more distant stars
And the glory of the humming bird
Old white horse galloped away through the meadow
Theres a wood thrush singing through the fog
Sad horse makes his way along the path
Hooves on stones he weaves among the flowers
And in the darkest of nights he remembers
The wood thrush singing him to sleep
And in the coldest of eves he remembers
The wood thrush calling out his name through the fog
I feel I've been walking round for days

The Devil Cannot Swim
05:00
|
|||
Under the stars I dreamt of the sea
And I asked my mother what I could be
And deep beneath the river bed
The oceans danced their endless waltz to me
And I don't know where you will fall
I don't think I can help you anymore
But if I find the answers I will tell you
On the turn of my tide
Cos I do not know why
The oceans passed you by
We keep searching for the answers
I don't think that we will find
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
The rain can't read and the devil they cannot swim
We didn't mean to go to sea
Sleep like old trees
We didn't mean to go to sea
wake like young horses in the night
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
And I do not know where we all go at night
And i cannot know who feeds theses demons whilst we fight
But if you love some one
You'll only tear their heart into the ground
And i do not know how far this will hold true
But i'll hope with my heart
That it will hold true for now
If only for a second
Cos I do not know why
The oceans passed you by
We keep searching for the answers
I don't think that we will find
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
The rain can't read and the devil they cannot swim
We didn't mean to go to sea
Sleep like old trees
We didn't mean to go to sea
wake like young horses in the night
The rain can't read and the devil cannot swim
And I called to the river
Who sang to the wolf
Who howled to moon
Who danced among the stars
We didn't mean to go to sea
We didn't mean to go to sea
We didn't mean to go to sea

The Seeing Stone
03:27
|

Once when I was a bird
And I flew around asking for compliments
And I flew around asking for love
You were the seeing stone
The adventures in my head
And I don't know where I'll
Lie my heavy heart to rest now
Cos I saw a fox last night
And he told me with his eyes
That to fear this world
Its a darkened road to travel
There are demons down the line
And at dawn the devil dances through the meadow
The world shut his eyes
And in the safety of the silence
My words fly through the darkness
Like bats
Dusk said to dawn
"I am sorry for all I have done,
I'll be better next time, I promise"
Cos I saw a fox last night
And he told me with his eyes
That to fear this world
Its a darkened road to travel
There are demons down the line
And at dawn the devil dances through the meadow
And he told me with his eyes
That to fear this world
Its a darkened road to travel
There are demons down the line
And at dawn the devil dances through the meadow
Break the silence
Break the spell
Ring the cast iron singing bell
Cos once when I was a bird
And I flew around asking for compliments
You were the seeing stone
The adventures in my head
And I don't know where I'll
Lie my heavy heart to rest now
Once when I was a bird

Christened To The Forest
04:46
|
|||
Many a year ago when I was younger
I hid at the end of the wood by the crumbling wall
In my grandmothers garden
There I stayed for a while with my thoughts
They thought I had drowned in the pond
And the world was informed and they shouted my name
But I stayed in my cave in my wonderful game
And I picked up the ladybirds told them all stories
Of the nightingales and dragons that fly through the night
And if you were a fox and I were a dandelion
I'd know in my heart that I'd still be alright
And the trees they've been here since the first day of earth
So I'll lean up against one and I'll listen to him breathe
Dusk fell the trees got bigger I shivered a little to myself
Too scared to come out too scared to remain
My name still called like a wish on the breeze
Night fall came and she danced all around
And I, I, was not afraid
And I picked up the ladybirds told them all stories
Of the nightingales and dragons that fly through the night
And if you were a fox and I were a dandelion
I'd know in my heart that I'd still be alright
And the trees they've been here since the first day of earth
So I'll lean up against one and I'll listen to him breathe
And now many years later I sit on my own in this very same wood again
It is dusk again
And the last rays of sun that still dance through the sky
On their very own journey they don't want to die
And I, I, won't be afraid
And I picked up the ladybirds told them all stories
Of the nightingales and dragons that fly through the night
And if you were a fox and I were a dandelion
I'd know in my heart that I'd still be alright
And the trees they've been here since the first day of earth
So I'll lean up against one and I'll listen to him breathe
And in time I'll find out how to love to someone
To leave something you loved behind
And in time I'll find out how to love to something thats gone
How to love something thats gone
And never coming back
Many a year ago when I was younger
I hid at the end of the wood
By the crumbling wall in my grandmothers garden
There I stayed for a while with my thoughts
They thought I had drowned in the pond
